Man arrested for spying on security buildings in Algiers

The court of Algiers has sentenced a 40 year old man to five years imprisonment and fined 20 thousand Algerian Dinars on charges of defamation and contempt of authority.

• The verdict came following information received by the national gendarmerie services concerning a group of that were about to recruit new elements to join terrorist groups operating in the mountains.

• The main culprit pretended that the security services have entrusted him with supervising the terrorists’ aides and convince both a repentant and his brother to surrender to the local authorities.

• Thorough investigations carried out in the culprits’ houses wound up with the discovery of pen equipped with a camera used to collect videos of security buildings and other official institutions.

• The investigators have also seized a quantity of drug and a thumb drive containing samples of forged bank bills.
