Medelci denies any changes for the time being in Algerian Diplomatic Corps

The Algerian foreign affairs Minister, Mourad Medelci, has denied any changes in the Algerian diplomatic corps posted overseas saying such a decision rests solely with the President of the Republic himself.

Mr Medelci told the press Sunday in Algiers that any revamping in the diplomatic personnel accredited abroad was the sole prerogative of the President of the Republic, Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflika in consistence with the constitution.

The foreign Minister’s statement was in reaction to reports published over the past few days in several national newspapers announcing in banner-headlines a sweeping change in the Algerian diplomatic corps.

Mr Medelci pointed out that no decision had as yet been taken by President Bouteflika to this effect adding that in case a decision on the matter was made, the foreign affairs ministerial department would announce it officially and in due time.

He further urged these ill-informed daily newspapers to do away with rumours and speculations and rely instead on official announcements by the relevant authorities.
