Michelle Obama turns superhero as she moves from the cover of Vogue to the cover of her own comic book

She may not have any super powers, but she does have the best arms in Washington.

• And they will be splashed across the cover of the highly-anticipated biographical comic book of Michelle Obama due to go on sale next month.
• The comic – part of the ‘Female Force’ series – is set to chronicle Mrs Obama’s life from schoolgirl to the woman behind the U.S. presidency.
• The series showcases powerful female leaders. Issues featuring Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton sold out on release – and the comic creators expect the Michelle Obama edition to become an even bigger seller.
• In fact, distributors have stopped taking orders temporarily while Washington-based Bluewater Productions catches up with the demand.
• ‘I feel like the guy who invented the Furby,’ Bluewater President Darren Davis told the Chicago Tribune. ‘The reaction has been insane.’
• But while the comic does not give Mrs Obama any superpowers, it also avoids any criticism of her or any controversial moves she has made – in keeping with the upbeat image of the series.
• ‘We wanted to be respectful to all the women in the series,’ Mr Davis said. ‘They’ve really done amazing things in their lives.
• The comic also stays away from daughters Sasha and Malia – a decision that was taken after the Obamas fought back over the Ty Girlz dolls created in the sisters’ image earlier this year.
• The 22-page comic is due to go on sale on April 25 for $3.99.
• ‘Mrs. Obama is a dynamic force and one of the most influential women in the world,’ he added. ‘Her potential influence on future policy decisions makes her a fascinating figure to feature.’
• Artist Vinnie Tartamella said it was his goal to capture Mrs Obama’s ‘class, beauty and intelligence’.
