Military Court Appeals The Verdict Against Generals Menad, Boudouaouar This Week
Defense Services deposited on Thursday an appeal at the Military court of Blida in favor of the Maj. Gen. Menad Nouba, former commander of the National Gendarmerie, and Maj. Gen. Boudjemaa Boudouaouar, former director of the Finance Office of the National Defense Ministry, who are facing a sentence of 15 years in jail, and the confiscation of their property, Echorouk sources said.
The same sources added that the military agent would appeal the sentence this week and that the military prosecutor, in turn, will appeal the verdict against the defendants at the Military Appeals Board of the military court in Blida this week.
In accordance with the law guaranteeing the right of defendants to appeal the verdict to the Military Appeals Board within ten days after the verdict is announced, the defendants’ defense filed an appeal on Thursday, October 31, in the case of illicit wealth, undue privileges and abuse of function for which the military court signed the penalty of 15 years against each.
Previously, the military court of Blida (western Algeria) at the first military region, issued a verdict in the presence and sentenced the former commander of the National Gendarmerie, Major General Menad Nouba.
The same military judicial authority ordered the confiscation of all the property of the accused except his family home that is located in Oran, especially due to the charges against the former gendarmerie commander of illicit richness and obtaining undeserved privileges and abuse of function.
Menad Nouba, who was inaugurated as head of the gendarmerie on September 12, 2015, succeeds the late Lieutenant General Ahmed Boustila, and three years after his inauguration at the head of the services, he was dismissed on July 4, 2018, to be referred to an investigation by the military justice in October of the same year on corruption charges.
The same judicial authority sentenced the Major General, Boudjemaa Boudouaouar, the former director of the financial services of the Defence Ministry, to 15 years in prison and all his property was confiscated except his family home in Algiers Cheraga municipality.
Major General Boudouaouar, who was dismissed on July 4, 2018, was accused of the illegal wealth, and according to the investigation file, Baudouaouar was the link between Kamal Chikhi, known as El Bouchi, with whom he had a personal relationship with the Defense Ministry.
