Milutin Sredojević: “We Did Everything Possible To Pressurize Ghezzal For The Full 90 Minutes Of The Match”

The Zambian national football team’s coach, Milutin Sredojevic, admitted to committing violations against the Algerian players during the match that brought them together last week ending with 3-3 in the fifth and penultimate round of the AFCON 2022.

Algerian players were subjected to many harassments, before the match, that the media described as “psychological warfare” to disturb them in the match against Zambia.

The coach, known as “Micho”, said that his team did everything possible to stop the player Rachid Ghezzal, who scored a goal after three passes by the “Desert Warriors” before he suffered a disturbing ankle injury.

“We knew before the match that in the absence of Riyad Mahrez, the most dangerous element in the Algerian national team would be Ghezzal”, Micho added.

“Rachid Ghezzal is considered the most prominent in terms of decisive passes in the Turkish league, and within only half an hour he managed to make the difference for his country in front of us”, he explained.

“After his good performance in the first minutes, we realized that we can’t overlook Ghezzal on the field for the full 90 minutes because that would be disastrous for us”.

These statements confirm the “conspiracy theory” revealed by the Confederation of Algerian Football and Djamel Belmadi, coach of the African champions.

Belmadi said; “There are some strange things that have been committed against us in Zambia that have nothing to do with sportsmanship”.
