Minister of Solidarity called upon Citizens not to Vote for Manipulators of Ramadan Aid in the Local Elections
Minister of National Solidarity, Said Barkat, advised citizens not to vote for the local elected officials in the coming local elections, if the “Ramadan baskets” will not be distributed in any municipality within the deadline, adding that his ministry will note play the role of a policeman or gendarme,but its mission is limited in the follow-up.
As for the cases of favoritism imposed by the local elected in the distribution of Ramadan scuttle, Barkat told Echorouk; “We will fight those who manipulate Ramadan scuttle”, wandering about people who allow themselves to take the Iftar on something forbidden by religion, adding; “we do not have direct control, but the contribution to 5% allows us to follow-up and attract attention of the needy. Our role is not jailing people or taking action against them.”
The Minister of Solidarity called upon the General Directorate of Customs to contribute through giving the seized food products to Iftar restaurants, and called upon the Federation of Traders to urge traders on giving up fraud in the quality and prices.
The minister called upon the local authorities to resort to the Red Crescent and Muslim Scouts only, in the distribution of parcels and the conduct of Iftar restaurants, saying; “except for some associations that really prove their permanent activity in the aid at the local level. The priority after the needy is the money earner in case he did an accident or in case of illness, or if he entered the prison, and left a needy family”.
