Ministerial instruction obliges bars and night clubs to close at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve
Algeria’s security forces received an instruction from the interior and commerce ministries to oblige bars to close by 8 p.m. on the eve of the New Year, Echorouk has learnt.

The instruction which is the first of its kind in Algeria came to avoid any criminal act. Several crimes took place in the 2009-2010 New Year’s Eve.
This comes while attacks and drug appear on the rise. Judicial Police in the capital started searching night clubs and bars in western coasts like Ain El Benian, El Hammamate, Zeralda and Staouali.
The campaign started by searching the Beach of Djamila and Ain El Benian on Sunday until 11 p.m.
If bar owners do not respect the new instruction, they will undergo sanctions and may be jailed. Commerce and Interior ministries sent inspectors to keep watch on wine traders, hotels and night clubs.
