Ministry Of Defense Unveils Information Systems Security Strategy Until 2029

The Information Systems Security Agency of the Ministry of National Defense, on Tuesday in Algiers, announced the content of the first version of the National Information Systems Security Strategy for the period (2025-2029), approved by the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

In a speech on the occasion, the Director General of the Agency, Brigadier General Abdeslam Belghoul, highlighted that this strategy came “in accordance with guiding principles related to strengthening digital sovereignty, accompanying direct digital transformation by the state, preserving achieved gains and encouraging comprehensive coordinated action, as well as valuing resource sharing, and setting achievable and measurable goals within their specified deadlines.”

This strategy is based on “ensuring national cyber resilience, by strengthening prevention, detection, and response capabilities to cyber incidents, to support our country’s digital transformation and preserve national digital sovereignty.”

It also aims to “provide Algeria with qualified human resources and relevant structural, organizational, and functional aspects, with capabilities for preventing, detecting, and responding to cyber incidents, whether unintentional or malicious,” added Brigadier General Belghoul.

This strategy will “establish a suitable digital environment in the field of cyber-security, and create a national framework for developing qualified human resources, in addition to enhancing international cooperation in this field of endevor.”

In a related context, the same official announced the preparation of a preliminary draft law that frames cybersecurity aspects, which will allow “making it mandatory for institutions to impose the necessary cyber-security measures to protect sensitive information.”

For his part, the head of the Scientific Committee at the Agency, Mr. Si Mohamed Malik, indicated that his body monitors developments and accelerating scientific work in the cyber field, especially since it includes experts and cadres from national companies that deal with new developments on the ground.

It is worth noting that the Information Systems Security Agency sent text messages through all mobile phone operator networks to inform citizens about the content of this strategy, considering them an important link in the cyber-security equation.
