Moroccan police ill-treats Algerian illegal migrants

A man from Mascara province (west of Algiers) suffered a lot due to an attempt of illegal migration as was ill-treated by security forces in Morocco.Mohamed Slimani, 25, who had a miracle escape for many times lives in a poor family. His father dies as he was 9 years old. Because of that, his mother has been struggling with life to ensure food for her children. After he failed in the baccalaureate exam, he enrolled at a marine school. He worked as a porter in a vegetables market as he could not find a better job.

Mohamed and his friends Sofiane and Dehou who worked with him could not bear that job any more and they decided to collect money for a trip to Spain across Morocoo. They fixed the last days of December as an appointment for the travel.

They spent 7 days in the Moroccan town of Nadhour where they were searching for the opportunity to reach Spain.

“We could not reach Spain and we spent the night in a wasteland on purpose because Moroccan guards had tightened up surveillance on borders as Christmas was approaching,” Mohamed told Echorouk.

After the seven days, they became short of money and they had to come back to their families.

The first trip fails…what about the second one?!

Two months later, the three friends as well as two others collected more money and decided to make the same attempt. In a bus on their way to Nadhour, the conducter seized the opportunity and ordered them to give him 4,000 Algerian dinars in return for not telling the police about them.

When arrived in a coffee shop in Nadhour, they met a Moroccan in charge of helping them.

Decisive phase starts…who can afford that?!

The Moroccan man told the six Algerians they had to pay 40,000 dinars each in return for ensuring safety for them until they reach the other side. Then, he kicked out Mohamed, Sofiane and Mustapha as they did not have that sum of money with them. The three others were taken to a wild grave under high surveillance where they spent three nights. Sofiane’s friends who had been crying all the time as he was fed up run away while the Moroccan was busy with counterfeiting procedures of their passports. On the fourth day, he took them to a coffee shop to plan how to pass through check points but he did not give them all information and did not help them at the check points.

He escaped while they were arrested by security forces which had beaten jailed them. Two days later, they were trialled and deported to Algeria.
