Borders between Algeria and Morocco

Morocco launches a media campaign against Algeria in the framework of the “deliberate escalation”, Foreign Ministry said.

“This tendentious campaign began a hostile and disgraceful act that suspected the territorial integrity of Algeria», it added.

Official spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, Ammar Belany asserted that with regard to the aspirations and concerns of the Algerian people on the national and other Maghreb issues, “We respond simply, that no foreign party should propose or dictate to Algeria its sovereign options, especially with regard to the natural solidarity with fair issues across the world, starting from its own historical experience.”

“Everyone understands and is aware that there is a serious problem regarding the intensive smuggling operations of drugs from the Moroccan territory. We were surprised during the talks that we wanted it to be secret at first, as we were told that the cooperation must first began with opening the borders.”

“It is our right to wonder who started trying to impose unacceptable conditions in form and substance. Statements of Morocco are aggressive and extremely dangerous, including those issued by the President of the Independence Party and member of the coalition government, that were reported by the public television”.

“Since the meeting of Zeralda in June 1988, and the Marrakech meeting in February 1989 that resulted in the signing of the foundingtreaty for the Arab Maghreb Union, separating the question of Western Sahara for the Algerian-Moroccan bilateral relationship, and the strategic prospects for the integration of the Maghreb in which we believe strongly, despite the difficulties that we want to overcome”.

“It was agreed at the highest level that each party will defend its position on this issue, and with regard to Algeria, it will continue to defend with all sovereignty and insistence on its permanent position to support the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.”
