Morocco deported 10.000 African illegal migrants to Algeria within 6 months
Moroccan authorities deported over 10.000 illegal immigrants, who were seeking to cross into Europe since the end of last May, a period that usually notice deportations. This number is among the highest figures that were recorded in seven years, security sources say.
A security source told AFP on Thursday, that in the period between May 29 and October 31, the number of illegal immigrants who came from countrie of the southern Sahara and who were deported by the Moroccan authorities, to the Algerian borders reached 10.030 secret migrants.
The same sources added that among those seeking to cross to the European side, 580 illegal immigrants who were deported during the last week of October, as a result of extensive deportations carried out by the Moroccan army and gendarmerie, in coordination with the Spanish authorities.
According to the annual report, issued by the state security of the city of Oujda which supervised on the eastern side of Morocco, the number of immigrants who were deported this year, exceeds the figures that were recorded during the previous six years, i.e since 2006.
