Municipal guards end protests in Algeria
Chief of Algeria’s national police Abdelghani Hamel received on Wednesday a delegation of municipal guards as a number of their claims were satisfied.
- The municipal guards have staged a sit-in in Algiers for five days asking for benefiting from retirement without any condition after 15 years of work. They also asked for a pay raise.
- Guards who have worked for less than 15 years can choose to be transferred to security forces or quit. In bother cases, they will benefit from all their rights.
- Following those measures, the municipal guards’ representatives decided to end their protests in the Place des Martyrs in Algiers.
