Municipality guards retirees to benefit from wage increases by 12%
Municipality Guards’ National Syndicate realized half of its demands during the first round of negotiations with the Interior Ministry, on Sunday, after a break of nearly 20 months since the famous protest of Bir Khadem, Algiers, in July 2012, waiting for a second meeting on February 9th.
Members of the MGNS told Echorouk negotiations were marked by the Interior Ministry’s consent to raise the retired officers’ wages by 12%, and to raise the grants of guards who were injured during service, without identifying the rate of the grants’ increase.
It was decided during the same meeting the issuance of an instruction that makes victims of terrorism and widows of martyrs, a priority to take advantage of the rural and social housing, with a reconsideration of the salaries of the martyrs of duty as well.
Both parties agreed to make the retirement open to all officers who have completed 15 years of service, including those transferred to public institutions like the protection and security agents, with keeping their salaries as they are.
The same Syndicate will meet with officials of the Interior Ministry on February 9th, in a second round of negotiations, as it is expected to identify the details of the grants’ increase for the injured, especially the file of overtime, and the amount of compensation that is demanded by the coordination, especially that this issue is a core point of contention between the two parties.
According to members of the MGNS, a large proportion of them did not accept and was not satisfied with respect to what has been agreed upon in the first round of the dialogue, on the grounds that the parties did not sign the joint agreement that serves as a reference to be invoked in the future, when each party breached its commitments.
Members of the coordination warned of the policy of gaining time that is used by the Interior Ministry, on the grounds that many demands were put forward since three years ago, but have not yet been resolved.
