Mustapha Berraf: “We Did Not Get Any Document Of Freezing Membership From The AOC”

Algerian Olympic Committee chairman, Mustapha Berraf, denied that his body would receive any document proving what has been promoted regarding the freezing of some members in the executive board of the Algerian Olympic Committee.

He explained that the statement includes only one signature, before describing the allegations that spoke about his statements which criticize the public authorities as “false”.

Berraf did not miss the opportunity to emphasize the existence of clear interference by some of the responsible parties in the running of the Olympic Committee, which does not comply with the standards of the Olympic Charter.

“I would like to assure the sports public opinion that our body did not receive a document to prove this news, because the statement contained only one signature” , Berraf said in a statement which copy was obtained by Echorouk, in response to news that said eight memberships were frozen by the executive office of the Algerian Olympic Committee.

He responded to the accusations against him on what he described as the statements against public authorities, saying:” These statements are false .. “.

“The freezing of membership at the OAC executive office can only be decided by the members of the General Assembly of the Olympic Committee, in the absence of any legal text on this situation without going through the General Assembly”.

Moreover, Berraf highlighted what he called “interference” in the powers and conduct of the Olympic Committee, which he listed as “illegal” because of its conflict with the rules of the Olympic Charter and Algerian Laws, before calling on all parties of the Algerian sports movement to be wise and responsible, especially at this difficult time that Algeria is going through.
