NAFTAL closes 10 companies of Butane Gas Production
Algerian company NAFTAL closes 10 units for the production of butane gas at the national level, out of 14 units over a week ago.
The company prevented private factories from supply of raw material “GPL”, as negotiations to renew the contract of production with them reached an impasse, which is expected to lead to a crisis of supplying the gas butane in then ext few days, especially as private factories produce about 80.000 bottle daily, andcover 35% of the national need.
Representatives of the Association of Gas producers and Petroleum Products said, during their visit to Echorouk, that production contract ended with NAFTAL on 31 December of last year, but production ceased after 20 days, then started on 21 January, 2012, after private partners received promises to settle fpr a new contract, as NAFTAL proposes to turn these private partners to services providers, but they rejected this situation.
The private parteners of butane gas called upon the Minister of Energy Youcef Yousfi to resolve this problem, saying that that this sector holds more than 5 thousand workers, of whom thousand of employees work directly and 3 thousand of them indirectly, noting that if no action is taken within a week means that they will be forced to close the companies and fire their workers, who will face unemployment.
