Naftal wastes 3,420 billion on 7 gas stations on Algeria East-West Motorway

Security forces opened an investigation into suspicious deals and 3,420 billion centime- inflated invoices for the construction of 7 gas stations on Algeria’s East-West Motorway by Naftal firm, Echorouk has learnt.

Two gas stations are located in the province of Ghilizane, two in Ain Defla, two in Bordj Bouarreridj, two in Setif and one gas station in the province of Mila. Security forces are working on a detailed report prepared by experts from Naftal’s audit department. It shows a series of wrongdoings in tens of deals concluded by mutual agreement by Naftal. Equipment and oil products were stolen from the firm’s commercial department with the help of its union branch.

According to the report, the union branch went beyond its prerogatives as a social partner and handled management duties. It interfered in decisions related to deals conclusion and influenced contracts with building contractors.

The report also shows that suspicious deals were concluded to renew refined products distribution stations and purchase equipment.  A number of people who were employed years ago get their salary regularly although they do not accomplish their work.

Naftal granted deals by mutual agreement to people and companies it chose via personal relationships.
