National Committee for Monitoring Elections appointed, Interior Ministry says
Algiers-National Committee to monitor the elections is officially appointed by the Interior Minister Dahou Ould Kablia here on Monday.
Representatives of the approved political parties attended the ceremony of inauguration that was held in a closed meeting to elect its chairman and members of office.
Previously, Algeria President Abdelaziz Bouteflika announced, in a speech to the nation, that legislative leections will be conducted on May 10.
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika said “I expect political parties, trade unions and civil society organizations to work together to mobilize voters, particularly young people to exercise what is required by sincere citizenship for the fulfillment of civic and political duty”.
He stressed that the role of political parties in achieving the credibility of the forthcoming parliamentary elections is an irreplaceable role.
Bouteflika added that democracy, which Algerian society aspires to build, passes through the free participation of citizens in political life through its contribution in party activities, the exercise of freedom of expression, accepting the election results and through keeping the sacred fundamentals of identity.
