“National Network of Information” to secure Algerian and foreign institutions

General Directorate of National Security is preparing to start the second phase of the plan to secure Algiers through the development of surveillance cameras in the streets, and this in 37 zones of urban security, having been covered 81 Daira centers with these cameras, in order to generalize the digital system of surveillance in all entrances and exits of the major neighborhoods, and the main streets of the capital.

 Same services will launch the embodiment of the “National Network for the transfer of information”, which is linking all the cities of the nation with optical fibres to secure ports, airports and borders, and secure Algerian or foreign institutions, as this plan will ill be realized by the end of the current year.

Dean of the police, Makouf Azzedine, Director of Technical Means at the General Directorate of the National Security in Algiers said the command and control of the security in the capital, is launched due to the growing phenomenon of gangs and to ensure rapid intervention to the nearest security unit, in cases of robbery, theft and drug trafficking, as well as to determine the traffic on the level of roads.

 

Same official added that there is a focus in choosing and installing cameras in areas and spaces where are widely visited by attackers on citizens in public places, in addition to the squares and in front of public utilities and transport stations, airports, seaports; “Cameras that are connected to remote halls of in the headquarters of security offices to tighten surveillance on all suspicious movements, and enable security services to reduce the time factor in reaching the wanted, especially since these cameras take 25 pictures per second, which facilitates the work of the security.

 

With regard to securing stadiums, the spokesman asserted; “Following the instructions of Major General Abdelghani Hamel, Director General of National Security, stadiums will be secured, as they have been provided with a number of surveillance cameras such as the Stadium of the martyr Hamlaoui in Constantine, eastern Algeria, which was strengthened with the system of “video surveillance”, since last March, with providing 16 camera. Security services contacted the Governors of Republic for the dissemination of the process in the stadiums, as the response came from 12 cities, in order to save those places from riots and uncontrollable things”.

“Helicopters are equipped with surveillance cameras that can zoom in from a distance of 1 km, and can hover in isolated areas to monitor any suspicious movements”.
