Natural gas leak poses danger in eastern Algeria

Accidents relating to natural gas leak happened in Skikda province (east of Algiers) because of continuous high-pressure in natural gas liquefying units making large industrial disasters possible.

In less than 6 months, over 7 accidents happened due to leaks in gas pipelines following high pressure, Echorouk has learnt.

According to well-informed sources, some technicians wrote reports on the status of work inside these units but no one paid attention to their report.

The explosion which happened there on January 19th 2004 killing 27 workers was expected because unit No 40 was out of work after big problems.
