It’s been made sure again that Algeria is behind neighbors and African countries in the field of communications because it ranked in the bottom in the classification of the International Telecommunication Union, as Morocco was the first to launch the fourth generation mobile phone, and several African countries as well, like Senegal, Ethiopia, Kenya and Tunisia, which will launch the tender after a few days, while Algeria has not yet reached covering all the provinces with the third generation, at a time the book of conditions for the “4G” is not completed yet in Algeria.

In this context, the Tunisian authorities announced, on Monday, the launch of tender for the “4G” during the month of September, as  the Minister of communication Technologies and the Digital Economy, Naamane Fihri came, said the process of granting licenses of exploitation will be launched on July 2016, and explained that the Tunisian government’s policy aimed at popularization the new technology, and requests from dealers to market it in the first place through the non-profitable and isolated areas as a first stage.
Tunisian Minister justified giving the priority to areas that are not profitable and isolated, because it is aiming to provide more opportunities for these regions to catch up the urban development, stressing that the project aims to improve the online services for the Tunisian citizen who suffers from the poor and expensive internet.
In the same context, Morocco launched the fourth generation mobile phone during last summer through three operators and in stages, with a fast flow of the Internet that can reach up to 225 MB per second.
Senegal was the forerunner to this technology in Africa, as it launched the first pilot network of the fourth generation of mobile phone on October 2013, i.e before Algeria launched the third-generation network originally, which was realized by the beginning of December 2013, and the with a flow that exceeds 100 Mbps, while Ethiopia launched the first network of the fourth generation in March of the current year, and Kenya launched this technique as well by 2014, in addition to many other African countries like South Africa and Uganda.
