Network specialized in illegal abortions dismantled in Algiers
A district Attorney in Algiers has ordered the arrest of a doctor practicing in Algiers suburbs along with four of his accomplices including two of his family members, accused of carrying out an illegal abortion on a young woman causing her death at his clinic.

Investigations conducted by Algiers’ security services took the veil off a network specialized in abortion and illegal trade of illegitimate babies with foreigners.

The doctor was offering a sum of money for “mothers” who came to get rid of their babies, in return they should keep them alive till the seventh month or a few weeks before delivery, but he forced them to sign a document in which they renounce to claim their infant.

First elements of the inquiry backed by revelations made by the victims showed that the charged doctor was dealing with immigrants and foreigners to sell the new- born babies.

Sources revealed to “Echorouk” that abortion fees vary form 50.000 and 250.000 Algerian Dinars but the price was cut down when mothers decided to keep their babies alive.

20 individuals appeared yesterday before the judge including five mothers who underwent this operation, while 5 main defendants and a notary were remanded in custody.

The same sources indicated that some 12 babies were concerned by this blameworthy operation. The doctor, specialized in gynaecology, was in the past charged for being involved in practicing illegal abortions in 2008 after being denounced to the security services by his own wife.
