Nigerian Women Smuggle “Heroin” In Their Stomachs For 70 Million Centimes (DA)

On Wednesday, the Criminal Court in Dar El Beida, east of Algiers, opened the file of a dangerous cross-border network involving six African nationals, including three girls, the youngest of whom being under the age of 19, who was active in trade and import of “heroin” through the axis of Nigeria, Tamanrasset, Oran and the capital, and brought significant quantities.

They hid the drugs in their clothes and tucking them in sensitive places on the body, or swallowing them to settle in their guts in exchange for obtaining sums ranging between 50 and 70 million centimes in Dinars.

This decoy allowed them to camouflage the drugs from the security elements after entering the national territory illegally, alleging that they escaped the chases of the extremist group called “Boko Haram” but in reality they engaged in drugs’ trafficking in the region.

Details of the file, reviewed by the Criminal Court Authority, on Wednesday, stemmed from information monitored by the Anti-drug Trafficking and Secret Migration Service of the services of the judicial police in the eastern province of the capital, exposed suspected criminal activity by a number of African nationals, as their names were previously mentioned by three Algerian individuals who had been arrested before within the framework of a transnational criminal group involved in illegally importing narcotics from Nigeria towards Algeria.

Hearing the statements of the defendants during the judicial and security investigation, they confessed to the details of the operations of transporting and bringing drugs from Nigeria towards the capital Algiers and Oran through the Bordj Badji Mokhtar southern border locality, and they also acknowledged their activity in the drug trade under the leadership of the mastermind of all the deals called “Prince Claude”, as the latter rented an apartment in Bordj Al-Bahri east of Algiers to house the women drugs smugglers who argued they had fled the strife in Nigeria.

During the court hearing, the Public Prosecutor requested the imposition of a life sentence against all the accused pending the court’s final verdict in this criminal case.
