Orascom Sawiris: no intention to sell Djezzy
Orascom CEO Nadjib Sawiris has expressed his wish to meet Algerian officials including the Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia to make things clear about “allegations†reported on the company, he said
-
Najib Sawiris denied allegations on ongoing negotiations as part of a deal to sell Orascom’s branch in Algeria Djezzy to France Telecom.

-
“Neither Orascom Telecom nor Djezzy are for sale because I am committed to fulfill my goal,” he told reporters.
-
-
Sawiris is looking forward to build a world body dominated by an Arab figure like him. “It would enter the race with the West.”

The number of Djezzy Orascom’s subscribers in Algeria has reached 14 million making it the leading mobile phone operator in the country.

“I believe that Algeria has played big role in Orascom Telecom’s success in the world. The half of it is due to Djezzy,” Sawaris said.
-
-
He also said mobile phone market in Algeria did not reach saturation stage as it is still estimated at 60 percent.

Orascom Telecom is preparing for the creation of the first not-for-profit institute for high tech transfer. “There will be no need for fresh graduates of Algerian universities to travel abroad for this training,” Sawaris stressed.
-
-
Orascom has moved from money investment phase to brains investment. It is expected to start coordinating with its operators including modern devices providers and public authorities to create a specialised technology institute for Algerian competence. “Thus, university graduates would have more opportunities to find a job in local and global companies based in Algeria,” he said.

Orascom Telecom also considers launching an international campaign to draw the world’s attention to tourism potentials in Algeria.
-
-
“This idea came after we had discovered that Algeria has great capacities in this field. It can be a leading touristic desination . That’s why, we want to give the world another image of Algeria” said Sawaris.
-
-
“We hope that this promoting campaign would pave the way for this goal even if it does not lead to a short-term revival of tourism,” he added.
