Ouyahia calls for Algerian Diaspora as economic input

Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia urged Wednesday Algerians living abroad to form a Diaspora to contribute in developing expertise and know-how in Algeria.

Ouyahia said “Algeria needs its sons living abroad” calling on them to form a “lobby” to promote “their country’s economy outside hydrocarbons.”

“A total of 99 percent of Algerian executives living in foreign countries were trained in Algeria,” he said as answering deputies’ questions at the Council of the Nation.

The prime minister called on them to “think of what they would offer to Algeria according to their experience and capacities.”

Indians constitute the largest Diaspora in the world after China as it has worldwide roots. Non Resident Indians have played a major role in the country’s foreign investment since its 1991 economic reforms.
