Ouyahia Reiterates Indignation Over Targeting Algeria For Hosting Gaddafi’s Relatives
Ahmed Ouyahia, Secretary General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), one of the three major parties in power, has reiterated indignation over the campaign that targeted Algeria following the hosting of relatives of the ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, saying Saudi Arabia, for instance, was not criticized when it received the Tunisian toppled President.
Yet, Mr Ouyahia, who is Prime Minister too, recommended his party’s MPs not to suggest any amendment on the draft bill on the woman participation in elected councils.
He specified that his party targets attracting more women voters through such a bill ahead of upcoming elections, noting that women represent 50 percent of the population in the North African nation.
Secretary General of the RND, further praised the 2012 draft budget law, but he warned that “the current financial affluence Algeria enjoying, which is based on hydrocarbons revenues, wouldn’t last forever.”
