Over 300 Algerian Students Call On Authorities To Evacuate Them From Russia
Over 300 Algerian students, who come from different provinces of the country, and who left homeland to study in Russia, call upon the highest authorities in the country, on Monday, to accelerate the programming of their evacuation to the homeland, because their presence in this country is no longer justified now.
Algerian students’ appeal to the authorities came, through the Representative of the National People’s Assembly, on behalf of the community residing in the Americas and Europe, Abdelhakim Dahmoune, who revealed the details of the case in a statement to Echorouk, on the sidelines of his supervision of the granting of a solidarity grant, presented by members of the community abroad which is a fifth-generation braille printer for the benefit of the blind kids’ school in Khenchela (eastern Algeria).
The MP Abdelhakim Dahmoune explained that he receives daily calls from the students residing in Russia, whose studies there, in particular, have ended, through which they ask him to intervene with the Algerian authorities to schedule one evacuation flight for them, in light of the miserable conditions, which they are living due to not having enough money for the acquisition of foodstuffs that they can live with, and not finding a shelter for them, after they were expelled from the residences that they used to occupy in various cities of Russia, which made them move from one place to another in difficult climatic conditions, where the temperature reached about -20°, in addition to their failure to obtain work positions, due to their currently illegal status in Russia, on the one hand, and the lack of even job positions in cafes and restaurants, due to their closure, and the layoffs of its workers due to the spread of the Coronavirus.
The same MP of the Algerian community in the fourth region, asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to look at the situation of these students with compassion and grant them exceptional licenses to return to the homeland or schedule an evacuation flight for them, as they previously did for the Algerian community residing in the rest of the Arab, European and American continent’s countries.
“I received daily calls and messages through social media, in which Algerians residing across the globe call upon the public authorities to grant them exceptional licenses to return to the homeland, especially the elderly who need care. Especially from their families and relatives after they had to stay outside the homeland since the closure of the airspace in Algeria due to the health situation that the country is experiencing to stem the spread of the Coronavirus.
