Over 3000 illegitimate kids subject to trafficking every year
Algeria counts over 3000 illegitimate children per year.
Trafficking cells recruit single mothers in order to give birth to children in order to exploit them in selling human organs. They also hire gangs for kids’ theft from hospitals.
These terrifying facts were revealed by specialists Sunday during a forum in Algiers, about the reality of unidentified children in Algeria at.
In this context, Head of the Algerian Network of Childhood “Nada”, Mr. Abderrahman Arar warns of the growing number of single mothers less than 18, describing this phenomenon as a threat to the Algerian society’s values that could also encourage the spread of illegitimate children who have no laws that protect them and enable their social integration.
“Nada network handled more than 55 files related to proving child DNA in order to help unknown kids to obtain their civil rights. News laws should be created to provide administrative rights for this category, in light of the obstacles and bureaucracy that hinder their integration into society. Domestic law for the reception centers of illegitimate kids because they have become semi-rigid structures and do not provide family atmosphere for this category of society. These centers can neither provide a name or surname nor ensure their integration into society after leaving at 18”, he explains.
“I’ve dealt we several cases related to trade and exploitation of illegitimate kids. Algeria counts a large number of cells and gangs implicated in theft and sale of children. The phenomenon is growing in light of the lack of security in our hospitals and clinics. Many single mothers give birth to kids in order sell them for sums of money. 15% of illegitimate children who live within Algerian families are thrown in the streets therefore procedures of bail should be tightened”, lawyer Fatima Zahra Ben Braham asserted.
