Over 3,600 Algerians who are stranded abroad were evacuated, with the arrival of planes from Niger, Turkey and the UAE, the Director of Algiers International Airport, Taher Allache, said on Friday,
In a statement to the National Radio, Allache added that it was decided to evacuate more than 3,600 stranded Algerians until August 10th by allocating 16 flights, asserting that the citizens who will be evacuated will be distributed to various hotels to spend the quarantine period there.
For his part, the General Manager of the Hospitality Management Corporation in Algiers, Sidi Fredj, said that the institution has taken care of a thousand people since the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The quarantine became 7 days after it took 14 days. 240 Algerians who came from Sudan, Kuwait and others will be received in the fourth phase of the evacuation. No confirmed case of COVID-19 virus was recorded after more than 1,000 citizens were housed and quarantined”.
