Palestinian Tribute To Algeria’s Steadfast Position On “Normalization”

The Palestinian authorities interacted most positively with the latest speech of the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sabri Boukadoum, at the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League ministerial Council, in which he called on the Arab countries to regain the initiative on the Palestinian issue and consider it the central issue of the Arab nation.

The Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad al-Maliki, during an encounter with his Algerian counterpart, on the sidelines of the special foreign ministers’ meeting held in the presence of the General Secretariat in Cairo, praised Algeria’s firm positions in support of the Palestinian cause and its total rejection of normalization with the Zionist occupation, and its assertion that the Palestinian issue is the first and pivotal Arab issue.

During the special meeting of the Arab League, Boukadoum urged the Arab countries to regain the initiative on the Palestinian issue, a call that came at a time when the movement for normalization with the Hebrew state was witnessing a state of stagnation.

Boukadoum said, “The Palestinian issue lived through its most difficult period in the last stage, and it is imperative to regain the initiative in order to create the appropriate conditions for resurrecting the path of negotiations on the basis of internationally agreed peace references, and in accordance with the UN regulations and the relevant principles of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative”.

The head of the Algerian diplomacy also stressed that “the sensitivity of the current juncture requires, above all, arranging the internal Arab house, pooling efforts, placing the interest of the Palestinian cause above all else, and ensuring that our positions are in harmony with common national interests in order to close ranks”.

He further hailed what he described, as “the important step recently taken to organize presidential and legislative elections, which we hope will contribute to promoting reconciliation and unifying the Palestinian positions”.

The intervention of the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs at the meeting of the Arab League constituted a painful “prick” for the countries that normalized their relations with the Zionist entity, represented by the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and to a greater degree the Kingdom of Morocco, which traded the Palestinians’ right to establish an independent state on their lands with the alleged sovereignty of the “Makhzen” over the Western Sahara lands.

Boukadoum’s words also serve as a warning to countries that have weakened in the face of American and Israeli temptations, which seem to have dissipated with the arrival of US President Joe Biden at the White House, as this put suspicion in the hearts of some Arab leaders who were eager for normalization, before they woke up from the shock that Morocco, with the new US leadership, which provided indications that it might back down from Trump’s “tweet”, favoring Morocco, after withdrawing the recognition article from the official website of the US presidency.

Algeria is considered one of the most vocal Arab countries opposed to normalization with the Zionist entity, as asserted by the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah, itself, and perhaps everyone remembers the recent momentous statement of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in which he said, quote: “I see that there is a kind of scrambling towards normalization and we will neither participate in it, nor bless it, as the Palestinian cause remains sacred for us and for the Algerian people as a whole”.
