Paris and Dubai’s fashion professionals to design clothes for Algerians
The government is expected to collaborate with the most famous fashion designers in France and Dubai along with a number of fashion Algerian professionals living in France. This is meant to develop new designing textile and shoe factories in addition to the current units in the Algerian market estimated at 50 factories.
This endeavour aims at developing local products. The government also plans to train Algerian specialists in designing to manufacture women, men and children’s clothes to compete with French and Turkish brands.
Chairman of textile and leather workers’ federation Amar Takoudjt told Echorouk textile industry in Algeria can not be developed without developing designs and making them trendy. Because of that, the most famous designers will be involved and Algerians specialist swill be trained.
He added that two new factories will be opened. The first will manufacture clothes and the second factory will make shoes. They will be based in Algiers.
Another textile factory will be set up in the province of Ghilizane in partnership with Turkey. It will employ 20,000 Algerians.
“Our aim is to have a market share as Turkish, Chinese and French operators dominate local and world demand,” he said.
He talked about textile week due to be launched on Monday in Algiers. The latest national products and designs will be displayed. “They were inspired from the most recent fashion shows abroad.”
Algeria’s industry minister Abdesselam Bouchouareb will inaugurate textile days at El Aurassi Hotel in Algiers. This event will gather all the Algerian and foreign operators through workshops, conferences and meetings. This is part of the government’s policy meant to boost textile sector and encourage starting business.
Textile and leather industry is “boycotted” by clients in Algeria as they are not “trendy” in terms of colors and designs.
