Patrick DeWilde appointed by FAF Federation as assistant of Leekens and coach of U23 squad

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has formalized the recruitment of Belgian technician Patrick DeWilde as assistant to George Leekens at the technical helm of the Algerian national football squad.

Patrick DeWilde was also nominated at the head of the U23 national team. Nasser Sendjak was initially tipped to take over this this post (EN U23) but was not selected by the FAF because of his financial requirements.

It should be noted that that Patrick DeWilde who has previously worked with George Leekens is an experienced coach holding the Professional License degree. 

He brought up the Eendracht Aalst team to Division 3 in 2007, then he was assistant at Metallurg Donetsk, and coach of the Chinese team Tianjin Song Jiang that he made accede to Chinese Division 2. He was also Technical Manager of the club of Red Bull Salzburg in 2011, and later on of Tunisia’s Club Africain and Esperance in Tunis.

In a statement published on its official website on Wednesday, the FAF Federation also indicated that Dewilde Patrick will aim with the national Olympic line-up to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.
