Pharmacies union’s chief urges health ministry to react at earliest

Most of the pharmacies across the country witness an acute shortage of drugs designed for chronic diseases in addition to the total absence of contraceptive pills

  •  The chief of the private pharmacies’ union Messaoud Belaambri has, in a declaration to Echourouk, indicated “Each woman has her own contraceptive pills and a sudden change in the type of pills would affect her hormonal balance and a series of other side affects..”.

  •

  • Echourouk has also witnessed the absence of drugs used by hypertensive patients, diabetic patients and asthmatics.

  •

  • One of them has indicated to Echourouk that this situation is hazardous for the patients’ health especially in the period of Ramadan due to long ours of fasting.

  •

  • The president of the private pharmacies’ union has linked the scarcity of those drugs to the decision made by the health ministry to stop importing some of them because they are produced in Algeria, but unfortunately the local producers didn’t cover the demand.
