Pharmacists denounce lobbies over drug shortages in Algeria
The Pharmacists’ Union Chief Messaouad Belaamebri has yesterday asserted that 8400 offices are witnessing an acute shortage of 230 types of drugs including 170 necessary ones designed for daily use.

He has indicated the latent drug scarcity has worsened the patients’ health conditions and staked their lives especially that the problem is redundant since a year amid a growing monopoly imposed some lobbies that held sway on the sector.

He has indicated that the latest measures issued by the government to regulate the sector and curb the lobbies’ hegemony have succeeded to remedy the situation somehow, but the authorities’ decision to postpone the issue of some strategic measures has aggravated the disturbances on the market.

Several representatives of various associations have raised concern over the acute shortage of medicines destined for chronic diseases especially the cancer –hit patients.
