Physicians to go on a general strike as of October 25

The General Union of Public Physicians have decided to go on an open strike as of October 25 to denounce the attitude of the minister Djamel Oueld Abbas who didn’t respect the commitments sealed between the two parties last May

• Taking the floor before journalists, the General Union’s chief Mohamme Yousfi has yesterday declared that the Union’s committee has unanimously endorsed the decision taken by more than 7 thousand practitioners to start a general strike.

• M Yousfi has indicated that the Union is determined to go forward for the revision of the practitioners’ status following the example of the education sector as well as the review of the compensation system, noting that the current one has been “imposed “ by the relevant ministry.

• He has also revealed that nearly 10 thousand specialists have quit the public sector to turn to the private one over the last decade. This haemorrhage, he added, was mainly due to the attractiveness of the private sector and the various advantages in comparison to the public one.
