Most of Algerian former soccer players and coaches interviewed by Echorouk believe that a conflict would take place between Algeria and Egypt or Libya if they play a match as part of African qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. This comes as a soccer crisis was sparked between Algeria and Egypt in the last qualifiers.

Zuheir Djelloul: a match against Libya or Egypt will be ordinary and we must not make the same mistakes

Algeria national coach’s former assistant Zuheir Djelloul hailed the team’s capacities following their win over Rwanda on Sunday and qualification for round three.

“Our team have big capacities in defense and midfield. If most of the players are kept, they will dominate the African game,” he told Echorouk.

Speaking about a possible match against Egypt or Libya, he said Algeria must not make the same mistakes if they play against Egypt or Libya in a decisive match to qualify for the world cup.

“The Algerian federation is doing a professional work in terms of organization and preparation. If we play against Libya or Egypt, concerns will be raised about fans. They have to learn that it will be no more than a soccer game. We will not wage a war against our neighbors and brothers. Our relations are bigger than a match,” he added.

Nourredine Saadi: playing against Egypt or Libya is better than a match against Cameron

Coach Nourredine Saadi believes that nothing serious will happen if Algeria plays against Egypt or Libya.

“We are not in a jungle to experience violent acts and a soccer crisis each time there is a match between Algeria and Egypt and even Libya. There are strong relations between those people,” he said.

He added that conditions in Egypt and Libya are good for the Algerian players in terms of weather and stadiums compared to Cameron.

“Technically speaking, I prefer that Algeria plays against Egypt or Libya as weather in those two countries is similar to our weather. That will help our national team compared to hot and rainy weather in Cameron.”

Mohamed Kaci Said: it does not matter if we play against Egypt or any other team

Former player Mohamed Kaci Said believes that a decisive match against Egypt or Libya to qualify for the world cup 2014 “is not a big deal.”

“It does not matter who will play against in the last round. Our team must be ready because the mission will not be easy,” he told Echorouk.

“Sensitivity is always here when a match is played between Algeria and Egypt. That’s normal. Yet, players must focus on the pitch to qualify for Brazil’s world cup,” he added.

Hakim Medane: Algeria can play against any team

Former international player Hakim Medane described the national team’s performance as “successful,” saying they deserved to qualify to the decisive match.

“The players’ performance in the first round was very good. They deserved to qualify for the next round,” he added.

“The players dominated the group by defeating Benin and Rwanda and they played a good match against Mali in Burkina Faso although they lost the game.”

Medane believes that the national team have big chances to defeat any team in the decisive match and qualify for the world cup in Brazil.

Coach Mustapha Beskri: I hope Algeria will not play against any Arab team

Coach Mustapha Beskri said the Algerian team deserved to qualify for the decisive match in view of their performance.

“Honestly speaking, the Algerian team were better than Rwanda in terms of experience and individual performance. The players imposed their playing way and managed to qualify for the decisive match,” he added.

“I think that the Algerian team are in the right way to qualify for the world cup in Brazil.”

Speaking about the possibility of playing against Libya or Egypt, Beskri said it would be better if Algeria does not play against none of them so that the “Arab representation in the world cup will be great.”
