It is worth to mention that the detectives arrested the aforementioned defendants a couple of weeks ago, and recouped two US made automatic guns smuggled from Libya, a number of luxury cars and stolen stuffs, in addition to knifes and swords used by the gang in stealing operations.

The investigation was prompted by the complaint filed by the regional manager of the public treasury in Khenchela who was subject to the stealing of 5 million DZD cash in his house at gunpoint, in mid August.

Two people were arrested and subjected to cross examinations, while the ongoing investigation enabled detectives to arrest a third person, who was implicated in selling a 9 mm revolver, which was smuggled from Libya, amid instable situation there.

Yet, a parallel investigation was opened on the existence of arms trafficking gang, permitting detectives to arrest 7 people, including firefighters, and to recoup another 6.36 mm automatic gun, in addition to a number of stolen stuffs and cars bought with the stolen 5 million DZD.
