Police keeps watch on narcotics in Algeria
Narcotics in Algeria are under security surveillance totally like explosives due to their danger, a police high ranking officer said.

“Chemists must show their sales registers to the police to know about quantities of sold narcotics and who consume them,” said the officer.

Algeria’s judicial police arrested 3,322 suspects in 2,253 drug and narcotic smuggling cases in January-June 2008. A total of 4, 7204 narcotics were seized in the same period.

Earlier in November, anti-drug organization chief Aissa Guacemi said 113 tons of drugs were smuggled from Morocco to Europe across Algeria in January-September 2008. Of them, 17 tons were seized by Algerian security forces.
