Policemen and sailors involved in the passing of illegal immigrants in the port of Algiers
The Algerian security and customs forces have foiled an attempt of passing illegal immigrants at the port of Algiers that involved police elements and sailors on spot who forwarded forged passports to them.
- Reliable sources have revealed that two of the illegal immigrants have passé through the port with the help of Dockers who facilitate their access on a boat with money in return.
- The public prosecutor of the court of Algiers has yesterday issued an order to remand in custody two sailors and 4 illegal immigrants after putting a third sailor and two policemen under judicial control pending the completion of the investigations and trial.
- The operation wound up with the retrieve of 42 thousand Euros a German brand car “ Golf 5” and 4 forged passports putting the total of fake passports to 8 used by the illegal immigrants.
- The arrest took place on Sunday night after a well wrought plan prepared by the security forces who suspected two illegal immigrants who succeeded to get on the boat and carried out an identity control on the passengers; but the two illegal immigrants fled as soon as they were pointed out by the security forces.
- After being interrogated the two illegal immigrants have revealed that two policemen and sailors were involved in the passing of illegal immigrants in exchange of hard currency.
- The illegal immigrants were heading for the French port of Marseille on board of the boat “ Tarek Ibn Ziad”.
