The National Committee for the Integration of Pre-Employees said it is to mark a protest movement in front of the Ministry of Labour and the Government Office, in the first week of January 2012.

The committee is composed of 240 thousand young graduates serving in the sectors of education, health, higher education and local administrations, with 8000 to 150 thousand DZD wage a month (80 to 150 USD), depending on the level of the diploma.

The protesters vow to continue protesting until youth university graduates, working with pre-employment contracts, or those working temporarily within the social employment network, are given permanent jobs.

A statement of the committee reads “that the contracts are a form of exploitation and go against the constitution’s article 55 which stipulates that the right to permanent job is guaranteed for any Algerian citizen.”

The protesters are urging the government to put an end to such temporary contracts which prevent graduates from having a professional career.
