President Bouteflika calls for massive voter-participation on May 10th , labelling the polls as “crucial”

The head of state Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflika has reiterated his call for a massive participation in next Thursday’s legislative elections to give a fresh and solid impetus to the process of development, reforms and democratic evolution in Algeria.

• President Bouteflika who made a keynote speech in the eastern city of Sétif where he paid Tuesday a working visit, coinciding with the commemoration of the 67^th anniversary of May 8^th 1945 tragic massacres, said as the struggling Algerian people went out on that momentous day, mobilized and united, to loudly proclaim their stand and to defend with courage and dignity their national cause, all the citizens now were called upon to go out likewise en masse on voting day to usher in a new stage in the ongoing process of reform, development and democratic evolution in Algeria.

• After bringing out the imperative of a collective mobilization on the part of the Algerian people likely to guarantee the success of the forthcoming elections, vital, he stressed for the future of the country, President Bouteflika recalled that the country was on the threshold of a crucial stage which should be crowned with success.

• President Bouteflika also urged the youth to preserve the country, stressing that the country was in the hands of the new generation whose responsibility, he pointed out, is to see to it that it is safeguarded.

• He further underscored the major significance of a strong pluralistic National Popular Assembly with members beyond reproach reflecting the nation’s realities and aspirations.

• President Bouteflika also stressed the necessity for the new Assembly to guarantee the right to an effective participation by all and sundry, including the new parties and the choice of competent and credible candidates who could carry new approaches as well as serious and judicious programs, faithful to the ethical commitment binding them to their voters.
