President Office Open Investigation on the Metro of Algiers
President Office has ordered competent authorities to open an investigation over “the scandal†of the Algiers metro, following leaked official mails posted by Echorouk in recent days.
A source close to the file revealed to Echorouk reporter that President Office services reacted after that the newspaper leaked some mails between the company in charge of managing the Algiers subway (RATP Algiers) and the company in charge of the construction of the metro (SVC), and which contained scandalous details about failures in the infrastructure.
For instance, the aforementioned correspondences admitted the existence of a failure in the water evacuation pumping system, in addition to the use of fake reinforced concrete in the construction infrastructure.
The said mails were issued 4 days after President Abdelaziz Bouteflika inaugurated the long awaited metro project, early November.
Meanwhile, well informed sources said the Algiers metro managing company decided stopping using written mails, and using instead electronic mails to avoid being leaked to the press.
