American Democratic Institute, joined a non-governmental organization that is close to the Democratic Party, which is led by the U.S. President Barack Obama, to the row of the non-governmental organizations to participate in the control of the Presidential Elections in the upcoming April 17th, thus enhancing doubts about the credibility of the next elections.

Media sources said that the American Democratic Institute, which is known shortly as “NDA”, responded negatively to the invitation that was extended by the Algerian government, arguing it by the delay of the request  that was made by the Algerian side, as those justifications were the same which were given by the EU to justify its failure to dispatch representatives to monitor the elections.
NDA explained that the delay in the Algerian demand prevented enabling it to take enough time to prepare a mission that is able to perform its role as it should be, but it will send a small number of analysts (which number was not yet specified), which mission is expected to do research about monitoring the voting process, but without participating in the elections’ monitoring, a position which is the same that is adopted by the European Union.
Foreign Affairs Ministry, had earlier denied, that the Algerian authorities had delayed sending the invitation of the European Union, in response to the statement that is issued by Brussels in this regard, while the symbolic participation was considered (with two delegates) a representation to this body, when compared to those who were represented by the European Union in the elections that were held in both Libya and Egypt, in spite of the special circumstances that were experienced by the countries due to the repercussions of the so-called “Arab Spring”.
NDI, has been involved in monitoring the elections in 2012, with a mission that included 12 observers, as part of the European Union’s Mission with a number of its 60 members, and they agreed in the criticism of the circumstances in which the electoral process was organized, but without criticizing its legitimacy, and called for including the new reforms on the electoral system, and monitoring the voting process and the management of political parties.
