Protests to paralyze many sectors in Algeria

Workers and staff of the national solidarity sector start a massive strike today (Wednesday) and tomorrow, protesting against the disregard of the Ministry of National Solidarity and Family, to the content of the last meeting.

The strike will continue among the social front next Sunday, by specialist doctors, while workers of common services‭ ‬in ‭health sector, ‭will launch on April 16 and 17 their strike for two days ‭respectively ‭of ‭every week ‭. ‬

The National Union of Workers and the Staff of the National Solidarity, which called for the strike, decided to continue the protests, by organizing a sit-in out of the headquarters of the ministry, two days ago.

The staff of solidarity sector, according to a statement of the federation, available to Echorouk, insist on amending the basic law and compensatory system, and solve the outstanding problems of wages, with the integration of contractors, as well as discuss the basic demands of the wires, the joint sector, as well as intervention to reduce the arbitrariness and obstruction of the work of syndicates at the institutions of the national solidarity ‭and ‭directorates of ‭social activity ‭. ‬

Staff of the common services, belonging to the health sector, ecided to launch a national strike two days each week, beginning from next Monday 16 April, in protest against the marginalization and misclassification, which affects workers, demanding amendments in the Basic Law, as well as the compensation system.

Specialist doctors will launch an open-ended strike starting from April 15, to coincide with the elections of May 10.

The wave of protests will increase among the social front, and will affect the performance of the elections because of disgruntled citizens who have a direct relevance to public service,  and sectors that will launch the strike.

In the education sector, workers of the common branches of Education, will launch a national strike for three days, as the National Council of Teachers of secondary and technical education launched an open-ended strike since Monday, while the Syndicate of ‭ ‬Education Workers will launch an open-ended strike on Thursday in ‭all ‭ ‬educational phases.
