Bilateral relations between Algeria and Morocco will be marked by a series of consultations and cooperation process, Moroccan Foreign Minister, Saad-Eddine El Othmani, said Monday, in Algiers.

At his arrival to Algiers International Airport, Mr Saad-Eddine El Othmani told reporters that bilateral cooperation should be boosted through on ground working programs.

The local APS news agency has quoted the Moroccan official as saying that “My visit is part of common willing of the two neighboring nations to take profit of the current regional and international situation to give a new dynamism to bilateral relationships, and work to make them deeper.”

“As a new government in Morocco, I’ say that such a visit represents the starting point of a new dynamism for bilateral relations, which reflects the willing of the two nations to move forward,” Mr El Othmani said, stressing that “We cannot decide nor evoke all the issues during this visit; yet,  it is the beginning of process of consultations.”

The Moroccan diplomat further pleaded for reviving the process of the Maghreb Union (UMA). “Today, we are aware of the changes taking place in some Maghreb countries; changes that might offer to us a better opportunity to overcome obstacles hindering Maghreb synergy and integration.”
