Rail workers cause massive disruption in stations over pay

Algiers- A series of meetings between the syndicates of Workers at the National Company of Rail Transport and officials of the public administration did not reach a compromise that would allow off the protest by the workers of the company, which blocked the trains at both eastern and western regions from Algiers.

The strike of trains continues for the second consecutive day and a series of negotiations start with syndicates of workers at the NCRT and the administration, to reach a solution that would realize the workers’ demands including the system of financial compensations from the date of the beginning of negotiations in 2009, rather than 2011, their rights since two years. However; negotiations fail to reach a positive solution, because the administration of the company refused to ensure their demands.

The workers asserted that they will continue the strike until the realization of their demands, while the National Syndicate of Rail Transport and various syndicates of the NCRT fail to reach a solution with the officials of the company.
