RCD's leader Said Saadi
Algeria’s opposition party the Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD) suspended its activities at the National People’s Assembly, Agence France Press (AFP) reported on Wednesday citing a release.
- “The RCD decided to suspend its parliamentary activities until conditions of faithful transmission of deputies’ presentation is guaranteed,” said the release.
- “On March 5th, the RCD’s president and deputy (Said Saadi) faced a stab in front of dozens of imperturbable policemen,” it added.
- The RCD has 19 deputies at the Assembly and two senators at the Council of the Nation.
- Earlier on Saturday, residents in popular areas attacked pro-RCD supporters in an unauthorised march in Algiers.
