Ramadan 2013: Over 1,598 Algerians violated the holy month’s sanctity with murder, insults and vandalism
Security services and gendarmerie recorded during the first four days of Ramadan, 1,553 crimes, which resulted in the arrest of 1,598 people who were involved in attacks, hit and killing, while 81 people were perished after traffic accidents, and 190 were wounded, as most of them occurred a few hours before Iftar.
Figures by Gendarmerie Command show that 875 people were arrested across 48 Wilayas , who were involved in various crimes, while security services arrested 723 involved, as attacks with swords, daggers and abuse by stones and verbal abuse and murder were top of the list of crimes, while the number of cases which were dealt by security reached 1,553 crimes.
Among these crimes which shake our souls, a case which occurred on Friday in Sidi Bel Abbes, western Algeria, when a man 45 was subject to beating before Iftar by his son because of a fight with his wife, and he suffered a broken arm and the left leg which led to losing a significant quantity of blood.
Gendarmerie in Friha municipality, Tizi Ouzou, arrested persons who vandalized the memorial of the martyrs of the revolution in the village of “Madjen”, a criminal operation that targeted the graves of 61 martyrs.
In a related context, the center of Henchir Toumeghni municipality in Oum El Bouaki, on Friday, turned to a battlefield, where a man in his forty launched shots from a hunting rifle on his cousin, wounding four people severly, because of an old family dispute.
In Algiers, security services found on the first day of Ramadan, the body of a young man in the twentieth, on the edge of the road linking between Algiers and Blida, and arrested during the routine raids over the weekend six people in the forest of Bainem, in possession of different foods, in addition to drugs, cigarettes and hallucinogenic drugs.
On the other hand deadly traffic accidents killed, since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, 81 people and wounded another 190, as Gendarmerie recorded in only three days, 59 perished and 100 others wounded.
