Rashid Ghannouchi: “We Are Touch With The Brothers In Algeria To Resolve Libyan Crisis”

The President of the Tunisian Parliament, Sheikh Rashid Ghannouchi, said that his country has a good reputation and good relationship with its brotherly country Algeria, and the same thing extends to a number of other countries such as the United States of America, France, Germany and Britain.

Ghannouchi, who also heads the Ennahda movement, talked about the relationship that Tunisia has with Algeria, Germany, France, Italy and America, “Yes, these countries stand with Tunisia, so our country has a good reputation and good relations with our brothers and friends”.

Ghannouchi went on to say in an interview with the news site “Arabi 21” published Tuesday: “This reputation has increased thanks to the democratic experience, which remains the only luminous candle in a turbulent regional reality that is thrown by the waves and blood flowing in all directions, and that is why we find support from all. We felt this support when we were fighting the war against terrorism, which is a fierce and costly war”, he stressed.

In a question regarding the fact that the previous state was convinced that the “Renaissance” movement differs from the hard-line Islamist groups and armed militias such as Al Qaeda and ISIS, Ghannouchi said, “Everyone knows that our party is a civil party that believes in the state and has been resolutely operating within the framework of laws and regulations since its foundation”.

On the Libyan crisis threatening the two neighbors, and coordination between them to solve the crisis politically, Sheikh Rashid Ghannouchi stressed: “We are in contact with the brothers in Algeria and there is a convergence of vision and we are pushing for the adoption of the proposed solution from the neighboring countries of Libya, which in turn does not contradict what the international institutions have come to”.

He also pointed out, “The events are accelerating, and we are hoping that the brotherly country Libya would face a unified Corona pandemic. The situation in Libya is shared by international and regional agendas, even if all forces have been working with a real effort to impose a political solution to achieve this”.
