A communiqué released by the participants reveals that death penalty is not banned but shouldn’t be resorted to automatically. The theologians have also banned the so called trade insurances.

The proceedings of this international meeting that brought together numerous religious experts from different corners of the world, took place in the city of Oran over five days where 9 issues have to be discussed.

A number of resolutions have been drawn out and will be enacted starting from the date of their issue onward.

The communiqué of which Echourouk received a copy states that death penalty is still in force and its banning has neither a religious, nor a logical drive. But the theologians have indicated that this sentence should be pronounced according to the gravity of crime in order to avoid resorting to it automatically.
