Representatives of Libyan tribes: “Algeria is an outstanding country and has never sent mercenaries to Libya”
The representatives of the Libyan tribes have called on the Algerian government to work out a roadmap with a view to bailing Libya out of its 5 – month old crisis.
- Thirty tribal chiefs representing around 2 thousand Libyan tribes thanked the Algerian government and people for Algeria’s “neutral” stand in the Libyan crisis.
- The representatives of the Libyan tribes said that Algeria had not taken part in what they called “the plot” hatched by certain malevolent quarters aimed at the division of the Arab world.
- “Algeria is an outstanding country with steadfast principles and did in no way funnel mercenaries to Libya”, they asserted.
- This came out following a broad-based meeting of the representatives of about 2 thousand Libyan tribes on May 5th.
- A delegation of these tribes has recently visited Algeria to press for an Algerian mediation aimed at finding an early solution to the crisis now besetting Libya.
- Another Libyan delegation also left for Egypt with the aim of forwarding a similar request to the Egyptian authorities.
- They also highlighted the necessity of opening a serious dialogue with the involvement of all the parties at issue in the hope of reaching a salutary breakthrough to the Libyan crisis.
